Final testing and safety at the factory

FINAL TESTING AND SAFETY AT THE FACTORY

The factory acceptance test refers to the functional test successfully completed for each product before shipment to prove that every part of the is functional and meets the applicable regulations, as well as the customer requirements.
Knowing the regulations in force helps us defining the type of device construction, the type of instruments that need to be installed, the structure and the size of the power bars, the type of auxiliary wiring and the colors that should be used. Hundreds of factors have to be taken into consideration in developing a good design and everything has to meet the customer’s specifications.

All final tests are aimed at preventing unintentional accidents; therefore, each area shall be enclosed with chains or marked with red and white or yellow and black tape and well-visible warning signs shall be placed on the access points. The test is carried out with the aid of machinery that is kept constantly checked and calibrated.

Final testing and safety at the factory

The main tests that our plants have to pass are:

• degree of protection of the enclosure;
• clearance and creepage distances;
• protection against electric shock and integrity of the protection circuit;
• installation of the switching devices and of the components;
• internal electrical circuits and connections;
• mechanical operation;
• dielectric properties;
• wiring, performance under operating conditions, and functionality.

The purpose of these tests is to detect any defects in materials or workmanship of components and/or while assembling the panel. The good outcome of the individual checks allows drawing up a favorable testing report.

When it comes to safety culture it is not possible to refer to theoretical and abstract principles, rather it is necessary to think of a well-organized system aimed at limiting risk.

At CARTA we believe that in order to attain a good safety culture, it is necessary to:

• act on the behavior patterns;
• discard bad habits and encourage practices;
• stimulate motivation to assure safety;
• perform training at all levels periodically;
• act as a behavioral example;
• communicate and inform in a consistent manner.
